PUCRS, HSL and InsCer present social impact actions
Throughout 2018, more than 830 thousand people benefited from the university extension actions promoted by the University, such as health care, volunteering, courses and cultural shows. The own scholarship and educational credit programs have enabled 5,700 students to take advantage of opportunities for transformative, supportive and entrepreneurial education. In the research area, around 2,500 university students contributed to science through Postgraduate and Scientific Initiation scholarships. These are just some of the main results of social impact presented in the most recent edition the Social Report PUCRS, Hospital São Lucas (HSL) and Instituto do Cebra do RS (InsCer). In the data on the three institutions, it was found that the female presence is predominant among the 6,826 employees, corresponding to 59% of professionals and apprentices. The improvement of the teams receives permanent attention through training that reached 1,076 people.
In the field of internationalization of scientific research, PUCRS PrInt has 14 cooperation projects with foreign institutions, involving 23 Postgraduate programs. In the health area, in addition to being a reference in care, teaching and research, HSL and InsCer also stand out for the humanization of relations with patients. At the Hospital, volunteering dedicated 10,000 hours to care for 69,000 people. InsCer, on the other hand, benefited more than 400 people with community projects and provided free care to 300 patients from the Unified Health System.
