PUCRS is elected the best private university in Brazil

For the third consecutive year, PUCRS is highlighted as the best private university in Brazil in Folha University Ranking (RUF) , released this Monday, October 7th. In the private segment, among the evaluated aspects, the Institution ranks 1st in Research, repeating the performance of 2018, and in the second position in Teaching and Internationalization. In the general classification of the higher-rated higher education courses, also among private institutions, are those in Medicine (1st) Social Work (2nd), Psychology (2nd), Letters (2nd), Advertising and Marketing (3rd) and Communication (3rd) place). As in the two previous surveys, the 18th position in the general scope of the ranking was maintained, which included 197 public and private higher education institutions.

“The University welcomed the result of Folha's ranking. It is important to note that national and international rankings use different criteria, which sometimes places institutions in different positions. For example, for CAPES, we are the first University in research among public and private. At Times Higher Education (THE) , we are the 20th University in Latin America. The RUF observes issues such as teaching, innovation, research, internationalization and the labor market, that is, items that the management and academic community of PUCRS has sought to develop with excellence. This recognition demonstrates how much the University invests in priority areas and positively impacts the training of students in undergraduate and graduate courses, in addition to its relevance to regional, national and international development ”, highlights Dean Evilázio Teixeira.

About the RUF

This is an annual assessment of all active universities in the country - including public and private universities - which uses national and international data in addition to two Opinion polls from Datafolha, considering five aspects: research, teaching, market, internationalization and innovation. The analysis also points out that Catholic universities also have better evaluation, among the private ones, in scientific research - one of the ranking criteria.
