Dr. Ashok Shetty, professor at Texas A&M University, knows the structure of InsCer

The afternoon of December 5th had the special visit of Dr. Ashok Shetty, professor at Texas A&M University and director of the Institute of Regenerative Medicine.

He develops research in partnership with the Brain Institute of RS and even received postdoctoral fellow Gabriele Zanirati as part of his then doctorate at the Texas laboratory.

Prof Shetty's lectures addressed extremely relevant issues about innovative therapies for the treatment of CNS diseases, such as epilepsy, as well as that can contribute to healthy brain aging. Promising evidence involving cell therapy, regenerative medicine and genetic engineering were the strengths of the lectures, motivating the development of clinically viable strategies to improve neurogenesis, neuroinflammation and cognitive functions in neurological diseases and aging.

He gave lectures to undergraduate, graduate and health professors at PUCRS, and visited InsCer, visiting the Image Center, the Radiopharmaceutical Production Center and the Pre-Clinical Research Center. He said he was impressed with the current structure that we have and showed an interest in returning to InsCer after the expansion works.
