Congress debates Nuclear Medicine in the country

Organizing an event that was already traditional in person for a virtual platform was a great challenge. The 34th Brazilian Congress of Nuclear Medicine online, which took place from 4 to 7 September, managed to overcome the barrier of this challenge and was successful. With more than 700 registered participants and nine symposia, the event brought together people from different states to discuss Nuclear Medicine from different angles.

In the list of subjects related to Nuclear Medicine, professionals such as radiotherapists, physicists, biologists, pharmacists, urologists, oncologists, even lawyers and computer technicians were debating. “This year we made a different model. As speakers, we had only international references, and with Brazilian professionals we made several round tables to discuss the classes given by foreigners ”, explains Cristina Matushita, president of the Scientific Committee and coordinator of Nuclear Medicine at the Instituto do Cebra do RS.

Bringing the big names in each area was a strategy adopted to attract public attention online, and thus keep the "rooms" of debates always full. Among the world references who spoke were names like that of Michael Hofman, recognized around the world for undergoing treatment for prostate cancer.

In addition to the organization, Cristina Matushita, moderated and discussed other modules, such as nuclear medicine in neurology, a topic that became her specialty. InsCer's nuclear doctor, Diego Pianta, moderated two other modules, on endocrinology and continuing education, with the review of nuclear medicine exams.
